The Conquistadors are civic minded and participate in many of the Events in Charlotte County.
It turned out to be a great evening at Laishley Park in Punta Gorda in spite of the thunder and lightening, the rain held back. The Sculpture "Spirit " was dedicated in remembrance of Hurricane Charly August 13,2004 and the celebration of Lighting of the Lamps on the Bridge with the flags: Bridging the Shorelines was a site to see.
What a great time for not only Fellow Conquistadors, but their mates and guests. Great tailgate party, excellent food, and fellowship. What a wonderful night, the rain stayed away, a light cool breeze came upon us and the most beautiful full moon over the speedway. The Conquistadors shared the parade with Beach Radio, KIX Country, Charlotte Sun, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and others. Also in the parade was General Shelton riding in a Mustang, he heads up the Military Heritage Museum. The fans enjoyed the Palencia as well as the beads. The kids couldn't get enough. The Conquistadors presented the trophies to the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for their downhill racing event.
A great turnout not only for the ribbon cutting in Punta Gorda, but visiting establishments during the Gallery Walk, handing out beads, and then continuing to Dean's South of the Border for a delicious and filling meal; a time to socialize with all the mates who showed up to support this event and the Conquistadors. President Roger Enger,Past Ponce-Barry Gerber Larry Scoppa, Jerry York, Frank Lazar, Bill Kopp, Jim Jones and Tom Lewin who assisted in holding the ribbon for the latest Historical Mural Society's ribbon cutting on Thursday, June 21. Mayor Friedman, Rufus Lazzell, Bruce Hughes,Oscar Dorr, Heinz Schmidt, and John Wright for their attendance and support.
